What is Kings in the Corner?

Kings in the Corner — also called Kings Corner — is a multi-player, solitaire-style card game for 2–4 players using a standard 52-card deck. Each player gets 7 cards, four cards are flipped into a cross around the draw pile, and players take turns drawing one card and laying off as many as they can in descending, colour-alternating sequences. The four corner spaces take only kings, which is where the game gets its name. First to empty their hand wins the round; kings left in hand cost 10 penalty points, every other card 1, and when anyone reaches 25 the lowest total wins the match.

This version is built to be the best way to play it solo: a computer opponent that genuinely plans (or three of them), tap-to-play with legal moves highlighted, undo, hints, lifetime stats, and a cryptographically committed shuffle you can verify yourself. How to play

  1. Look at the table

    You hold 7 cards. Four face-up piles sit in a cross around the draw pile, and the four corner spaces are reserved for kings. A card is drawn for you automatically at the start of each turn.

  2. Play cards onto the piles

    Tap a card in your hand — every pile it can legally go to lights up gold. A play must be exactly one rank lower and the opposite colour of the pile’s exposed card: a red 9 on a black 10.

  3. Send kings to the corners

    Only kings may start the corner piles, and a king left in your hand costs 10 penalty points at round end — corner them the moment you can.

  4. Move whole piles to open spaces

    Tap a pile (with no card selected) to pick it up: if its bottom card fits another pile, you can move the lot. The empty space it leaves takes ANY card — the strongest move in the game.

  5. Go out first, or hold the fewest points

    First player to empty their hand wins the round; everyone else scores 10 per king and 1 per other card. When anyone reaches 25, the match ends and the LOWEST total wins.
